Navigating the streets of Chicago can seem like a daunting task for those that have just moved to Lincoln Park. Fortunately, the orderly configuration of Chicago's streets and the excellent public transportation system make the city of Chicago quite accessible to residents and visitors. Seven interstate highways run through the city of Chicago, producing several easy routes to travel into and out of the city. The train is also an option to navigate throughout the area, as Metra operates commuter rail service in Chicago and its suburbs.
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) manages public transportation in the city of Chicago and a few adjacent suburbs. The CTA operates public buses, a rapid transit system, and an elevated train known as the "El". The Lincoln Park neighborhood is accessible via public transportation, including the CTA's red, brown, and purple lines at the Fullerton station, as well as CTA bus service. Most CTA bus lines run every 5-20 minutes during the day and evening, and many operate "night owl" service running throughout the night.
